Dear Fellow Canadians,
Despite the fluidity of global financial markets, no formal network currently exists to unify young Canadians working in finance in Canada and the United States. As a result, we have decided to establish a formal organization for young Canadians in finance that is committed to promoting greater financial dialogue and facilitating cross-border career development. This organization will develop and coordinate future events and initiatives intended to strengthen the young Canadian financial community.
We will be launching this cross-border organization at a dinner scheduled to take place on May 18th, 2007 where the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney has graciously accepted to be our guest speaker. This dinner will bring together many young Canadians working in New York City and across Canada, and mark the beginning of our collective commitment to Canada. The theme of the dinner will be U.S.-Canada relations in the twenty-first century and how young Canadians can contribute to improving Canada’s human capital.
We have already received a strong response from the Canadian business community, with current corporate sponsors including Banque Nationale du Canada, Barrick Gold Corporation, Blakes, Cassels and Graydon LLP, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, Manulife Financial, Merrill Lynch, Onex Corporation, Power Corporation of Canada, RBC Capital Markets, Rothschild, Scotia Capital, Sidley Austin, TD Securities, and Vincor.
Sincerely,
Paul Desmarais and Michael Blickstead
