For the first event of 2020, Young Canadians in Finance is pleased to invite you to this breakfast conference featuring Marcel Larochelle, Manading Partner at Novacap and Alain Miquelon, Senior Partner at Novacap.

Novacap is the first private equity firm in Canada to launch a fund dedicated to financial services. Mr. Larochelle and Mr. Miquelon will discuss, among other topics, the creation of this new fund.

 

About Marcel Larochelle

Marcel Larochelle is a seasoned executive with more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry.  He holds a B.Sc. from Queen’s University, as well as the CFA designation and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) in the USA and of the Canadian institute of actuaries (FCIA).


Before joining Novacap, Mr. Larochelle held various executive positions in the asset management industry, including President and CEO of UBS Global Asset Management (Canada) as well as Executive vice-president and CFO for Fiera Capital.  Previously, he assumed responsibility for the activities of Mercer Investment Consulting for Canada and Latin America.  Following this, he started Mercer’s investment management subsidiary in Canada and acted as President for the Americas for that division of Mercer.  Mr. Larochelle has also led or participated in the private equity financing of more than 20 organizations across various industries.


Mr. Larochelle is Chairman of the Board for Thorasys and GOrendezvous.  He is also a Board member of Anges Québec and CentrixOne, as well as a member of the investment committee of the Canadian Center for Architecture foundation.

About Alain Miquelon

Alain Miquelon has enjoyed a successful career, spanning more than two decades in both senior operating and financial roles, principally in the financial services industry.  He holds a Bachelor of commerce from HEC Montréal and an MBA from INSEAD.  Mr. Miquelon is also a CPA, having earned his CA designation.

Mr. Miquelon’s experience has provided him with strong competencies in strategic development, growth by M&A, financing, and building leadership teams. From 2007 to 2016, Mr. Miquelon was a member of the executive committee of TMX Group, serving as President and CEO of Bourse de Montréal Inc. and Group Head of Derivatives and fixed income markets, after having served as CFO and Head of Strategic Planning of Bourse de Montréal Inc.  Mr. Miquelon’s experience also includes senior leadership roles for companies such as Mediagrif Interactive and Memotec Communications Inc.  Mr. Miquelon gained experience in capital markets having spent four years in the investment banking group of Scotia Bank.
 
Mr. Miquelon serves on the board of non-profit organizations including as Chairman of the Fonds de Développement du Collège Jean de Brébeuf.  He also is Executive Chairman of the Board of Marine Press of Canada Inc., an information services company in the shipping industry.
