Young Canadians in Finance Montréal is pleased to invite you to this breakfast conference featuring Alain Brunet, outgoing President & CEO, SAQ.

Mr. Brunet will share his experience of managing a Crown corporation and the challenges associated with the establishment of his new subsidiary, Société québécoise de cannabis (SQDC).

Alain Brunet is a retail enthusiast and began his career at the SAQ nearly 38 years ago as a part-time clerk. Mr. Brunet quickly rose through the ranks and became vice-president of sales in 2002. It is in particular his entrepreneurial spirit that has allowed him to carve out an important place for the SAQ at an early age.

He then held the positions of Vice President Marketing in 2006, Chief Operating Officer in 2008, and President and Chief Executive Officer in 2014. He notably brought under his guidance the principle of in-store merchandising, the program personalization of customer relations and taste pencils as well as the establishment of key partnerships for the development of the wine and spirits market for Quebec.

He was then responsible for driving the implementation of the SQDC with the mission of ensuring the distribution and retail sale of cannabis from a health protection perspective.

Mr. Brunet finally retired from the SAQ after a 37-year career last December.

With his experience in a Crown corporation, Alain Brunet is recognized for his inspirational and inspiring leadership and for the authenticity of his communications with stakeholders.

Alain Brunet holds three diplomas, including a McGill-HEC MBA and a certificate from the College of Corporate Directors.
